“BORDERLANDS” Exhibited at Consulate General of México in Houston

The Mexican Consulate in Houston, TX | 2024

“El Segundo Vientre / The Second Womb” at the Consulate General of México in Houston offers a deep and multifaceted view of migration, presented through the photographs of four talented artists who explore this topic from different perspectives. Artists: Raquel Natalicchio, Jatziri Barron, Troy Ezequiel Montes and Alex Ramos.

The exhibition seeks not only to highlight the humanity behind each migratory story, but also to question the concept of belonging and the territorial conflicts that have marked human history.

Through this interactive and moving experience, visitors are invited to reflect on the ties that unite us across borders and empathize with the stories of those searching for a place to call home. Immerse yourself and discover how art can transform our understanding of migration and territory, revealing the deep connections we share as human beings.

BORDERLANDS : Raquel Natalicchio showcases a handful of unpublished photographs made while documenting along the US/MX Border over the span of 4 years. The installation also features artifacts found along the Rio Grande River, where thousands of people migrating into the United States risk their lives to cross through. The artifacts include left behind personal items, wristbands given to people after paying the crossing fee to smugglers, children’s notebooks detailing their migratory experience through crayon and more.

“ Her photographs, full of rawness and sensitivity, reveal the resilience and humanity of those who seek a new beginning, facing dangers and barriers on their path.”
